هل يأتي انهيار الإتحاد الأوروبي من كونه أوروبيًا في ذروة أحداث الحرب بين روسيا وأوكرانيا عاود الاتحاد الأوروبي الظهور كلاعب رئيس في الأحداث مسترجعاً ذكريات ألخروب العالمية التي مزقت القارة وتراجع الاقتصاد وقتها سنوات للخلف، فما كان من خبراء القارة إلا أن يؤسسوا اتحاد كونفدرالي يستهدف زيادة اطر التعاون بين الأعضاء المؤسسين وفتح باب استقبال أعضاء جدد، ذلك التحالف على الرغْم نبوغ آثاره في المجال الاقتصادي لكن موقع القارة الوسط بين قوتين متنافستين حال دون إحراز تقدم في الشأن العسكري، كان الحل وقتها الاعتماد على تحالف عسكري يسمى الناتو يعوض غياب التعاون العسكري داخل الاتحاد الأوروبي، بعد عقود كان ذلك الحلف الظهير العسكري صداعاً في الرأس الأوروبية وتمثل انضمام الأعضاء السوفيتيين السابقين بمنزلة إعلان حرب على روسيا وريث المعسكر السوفيتي الشرقي. بعد انهيار المعسكر الشيوعي وانقسامه إلى دول جديدة تسابقت تلك الدول للانضمام إلي حلف الناتو الذي رحب بالتأكيد بحلفاء جدد من المعسكر الشرقي الأوروبي والاستفادة من موقعهم الجغرافي وخبرتهم السابقة في إدارة المناوشات بين حلف الناتو وحلفهم السابق قبل التفكك ...
